EVENTING

British Eventing(BE), the governing organisation of the sport in the United Kingdom, decided that following several very severe accidents in 1999 they should investigate the cause of these falls and then take action to minimize them is at all possible. BE collected a mass of photographic, film and documented reports of accidents over past years and presented them to TRL Ltd for further investigation.

Following two years of analysis, research and testing with a mechanical horse TRL were confident that they knew the sequence of events and their relationship to each other in a rotational fall. This knowledge enabled TRL to confidently predict that if a very certain set of steps were taken these accidents could be greatly reduced.

In the summer of 2001 British eventing asked Barriers International among others to try to find a way of meeting the criteria set out by TRL and consequentially solve the problem. With our many years of expertese in the horse racing industry we gladly and confidently accepted the challenge and the Frangible Pin was born.
